Concsious Evolution

A Path to Enlightening Self-Realized Understanding

Before one goes through the gate

One may not be aware there is a gate

One may think there is a gate to go through and look a long time for it without finding it

One may find it and it may not open

If it opens one may go through it

As one goes through it one sees the gate one went through was the Self that went through it

No one went through a gate

There was no gate to go through

No one ever found a gate

No one ever realized there was never a gate

Even so, the perception that there is no gate is a subjective perception

There is no way of knowing except to go through it

If we want to see peace on earth…

If we want there to be peace in the world, we have to be brave enough to soften what is rigid in our hearts, to find the soft spot and stay with it. We have to have that kind of courage and take that kind of responsibility. That’s the true practice of peace.

Pema Chödrön, Practicing Peace in Times of War

Enlightenment is…

Enlightenment is intimacy with all things.

Lightning in a Bottle 2013: A Conscious Festival

The music lineup for the 8th annual Lightning in a Bottle International Music and Arts Festival produced by The Do LaB has been announced, with electronic pioneers Nicolas JaarRusko, Tycho, Paper Diamond, Emancipator, PANTyRAiD, Lee Burridge, GRiZ and more to headline.

The country’s premier boutique music and arts festival also includes the sounds of Miguel Migs, EskmoTim Green, Cari Lekebusch, Blockhead, and Kastle. In addition to the world class talent above, other notables include house legend François K, the emerging indie melodies of Blackbird Blackbird, Los Angeles Icon Jason Bentley,  the foot-stomping anthems of Herbert Bail Orchestra, plus over 100 more industry leading acts and of course the performance-art enhanced vision of The Lucent Dossier Experience.

This year, with new dates from July 11 to July 15, 2013, and a new location at Lake Skinner County Park in Temecula, CA, The Do LaB continues on their journey to bring to life one of the most unique festivals in the world.

Over the past eight years, The Do LaB has worked tirelessly to produce the most innovative festival on the international circuit, transcending any typical perception of the modern gathering. By fusing the energy of the bass music sound with the introspective qualities of installation art, performance art, spiritual living workshops, and an overriding sense of conscious sustainability, Lightning in a Bottle has risen to unparalleled heights.

In the words of one of the The Do LaB’s event creation visionaries, “Our goal with the music is to create a positive and uplifting experience, with a good balance of beautiful melodic music and good old party music. After 4 months of in depth research and a lot of listening we tried to cover as many genres as possible that we feel fit the vibe that we’re trying to create with Lightning in a Bottle.”- Jesse Flemming, Co-Founder/Curator, The Do LaB.

Much of Lightning in a Bottle’s intimate singularity is expressed through The Lucent Temple of Consciousness, an amazing sanctuary for all participants to enrich the soul and inspire the spirit. The 2013 schedule inside the Lucent Temple, built out of recycled and found objects, will include over 300 different experiences in yoga, workshops, speakers and exotic world music.

The Greatest Gift You Can Give

The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development.

I used to say, “If you will take care of me, I will take care of you.”

Now I say, “I will take care of me for you if you will take care of you for me.

9 Life Enriching Benefits of Yoga

We’ve all heard at one time or another about how yoga is great for our holistic well-being and some of us have a daily yoga practice we do with that in mind. What you may not know is that the list of life enriching benefits of yoga just keeps on growing and here we look at several new discoveries about the wonderful benefits of yoga that have emerged in recent years. If you don’t incorporate some form of yoga into your daily life you may reconsider after reading this and become a yogi or yogini yourself!

Yoga gives an immune boost to breast cancer survivors

In breast cancer survivors, the Iyengar method of yoga not only promotes psychological well-being, but seems to offer immune system benefits as well, according to new research. The Iyengar method, created by B. K. S. Iyengar, “is considered to be one of the more active forms of yoga,” says lead researcher and presenter Pamela E. Schultz
“It still has the meditative component, but it’s been shown to have a physical output equivalent to a moderate-intensity exercise.” -Source

Yoga reverses the risk of heart disease

Ycan reverse the clinical and biochemical changes associated with metabolic syndrome, according to results of studies from Sweden and India. Waist circumference, blood pressure, blood sugar, and triglycerides were significantly lower, and “good” HDL cholesterol levels were higher in the yoga group as compared to controls, Agrawal’s team reports in the journal Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice. -Source

Yoga proven to help back pain

Research shows that regular yoga sessions may be an effective way to combat back pain. In one study, those who practised weekly 75-minute yoga classes made greater progress than those who took part in strengthening and stretching classes. The researchers found that at the end of 12 weeks patients in the yoga group were better able to do daily activities involving the back. After another 14 weeks they also reported less pain, and used less pain relieving drugs. -Source

Yoga enhances sexual performance

A study published in the December 2008 edition of The Journal of Sexual Medicine showed women who were not satisfied with their sex life experienced heightened arousal and better orgasms when they practiced yoga. Another study published in the same journal in 2007 showed yoga was the most effective solution for men dealing with premature ejaculation in comparison to Prozac and non-prescription drugs. -Source

Yoga can help heal in PTSD recovery

Recently Yoga has begun to be used as a treatment to aid in healing those with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In a recent study, a group of female patients suffering from PTSD were taught Hatha Yoga in eight sessions while another group of female patients underwent eight sessions of group therapy. Those who finished the Yoga training showed a substantial improvement in symptoms such as “the frequency of intrusive thoughts and the severity of jangled nerves” in comparison to those who underwent group therapy. -Source

Yoga helps in weight control through mindfulness

According to a new study headed by researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, people who practice yoga regularly are less likely to be obese. The reason isn’t necessarily the exercise part of yoga but the mindfulness part that promotes a slim body. It was found that middle-age people who practice yoga gained less weight over a ten year period than those who did not. This was independent of physical activity and dietary patterns. -Source

Yoga helps in stopping binge eating

According to research conducted at the University of The Rockies, binge eaters were encouraged to take part in a 10-week yoga therapy program. These participants saw a dramatic drop in their binge-eating episodes towards the end of the program. Every week, the program included an hour of yoga and group discussion afterwards that lasted half an hour. -Source

Yoga improves mood and reduces anxiety

Yet another study has confirmed that yoga can assist in the treatment of a wide range of psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, and cardiac disease. Chris Streeter, MD, and his colleagues from Boston University School of Medicine discovered that it may be because of yoga’s ability to increase levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an endogenous antidepressant neurotransmitter present in the brain. -Source

It’s well known yoga reduces stress; now we know why

Research has suggested for some time that psychosocial interventions like meditation reduce the adverse effects of caregiver stress on physical and mental health. However, the pathways by which such psychosocial interventions impact biological processes are poorly understood. -Source

SHIFT> Has Launched!

It’s here! After a year of much time, money & effort we have launched our new site called SHIFT>

SHIFT> is a transformation focused social sharing site that was created in order to accelerate individual and collective consciousness so humanity can see a bright future instead of a dystopian one. Shift thrives on social sharing and so we have made it the focus as we will demonstrate a little later.

Shift.is acts as a platform for inspiring others to do their part in our collective movement into a paradigm that is anchored in balance, harmony and coherence with one another and our environment. We provide a place for people to become co-creators of a world which is enlightened about the challenges facing humanity and working on solutions to them. We want to help individuals and groups work together in a way that benefits the whole of humanity.

We are here to help humanity by dissolving the boundaries that exist between each other and helping people realize the oneness and interconnectedness of everyone and everything.

As much as we love Peace and Loveism and have put literally hundreds if not thousands of hours into it for the benefit of humanity we won’t be able to continue spending time, money & energy on both SHIFT> and Peace and Loveism so after October Peace and Loveism will close down unless someone is willing to take on the torch.

Using SHIFT> For Social Transformation

The core of SHIFT> is it’s community shares feed. Using it is quite simple after you understand your way around it as we’ll show in easy to understand directions using screenshots of different kinds of things that can be done.

Viewing the Community Shares Feed

When you first come to the site, whether it’s by typing in shift.is into your browser or clicking on a link on another site that takes you there, this is what you’ll see. It’s the homepage and from here you can navigate to the other areas of the site. Since the Community Shares Feed is the focus of SHIFT> that’s what we’ll guide you through.

From the homepage you’re going to be able to get to the Feed in a few different ways. The main way is by clicking on the Community Shares Feed button at the top left of the homepage just above the site logo. You can also access the Feed by clicking on the Get Involved button just to the right of the logo.

A third way to get to the Feed is to click on one of two View all community shares buttons if you scroll down the homepage. One of the buttons is in the New Community Shares sidebar on the right and the other is in the 5 Random Community Shares sidebar on the left.

That covers how to view the Feed. Simple enough right? Now we’ll show you how you can share something to the feed.

Sharing Something to the Feed

As with viewing the Feed, there’s also several different ways to share something to the Feed. The simplest way is to click the +Share Something button in the top left of the homepage.

Two other ways to share something to the Feed are also side by side the previous methods of viewing the Feed, as you can see below.

One final way to share something is if you’re already in the Feed by clicking on the +Upload/Share Something button as seen below.

…and a closeup

Now you know how to get to the Feed and share something! But wait, you don’t have a user account yet so you won’t be able to share anything inspiring yet. Not to worry, creating an account is very simple and in some instances you won’t even need to make one if you have Facebook.

Creating an Account

Membership is completely free and easy to set up. We’ll walk you through how to set up an account using two methods. The first is creating an account directly on SHIFT>

From the homepage, click on the Login/Register button in the top right of the site.

Once you click on Login/Register, you’ll see the page below.

From this page you can register a new account using the form on the right side or Connect with Facebook using the button on the left side. Registration is very simple here and if you already have a Facebook account you can go ahead and click on the button to connect with your Facebook account and that’s it! You are now able to post all the wonderfully inspiring and consciousness-expanding things that your heart desires.

Since SHIFT> is community-driven it thrives when many of us come together to share and support things that are transformational and awaken awareness to not only the incredible possibilities for humanity and ourselves but also expand awareness and inspire action by showing the present state of things. Together we can make sure our future is a bright one. We hold the keys to our destiny. Let’s unlock the door to a bright one.

Music Review: Der Waldläufer – Wanderlust (2013)

Der Waldläufer is the name of a German ambient/chillout/downbeat music artist creating mesmerizing soundscapes that take you on an inner path to outer space. Creating an ethereal atmosphere that combines soothing drones and tribal instruments,  Der Waldläufer is a blend of consciousness-raising harmonics that is refreshing and invoking of a peaceful serenity within.

Be prepared to be taken on a journey through time and space…through cosmic valleys of tranquility. A perfect listen to on a Saturday morning as you look at your window and see the snow falling ever-so-lightly or on an afternoon out in nature as the sun sets and nature’s inhabitants are preparing for their slumber. Der Waldläufer’s music is so soothing that we would even recommend if for meditation where you are seeking that added element that will be able to take you on a peaceful ride unlike possible if you’ve just come home from a hectic day and are looking to decompress.

We love supporting artists that not only produce great music but also have a deeper intention within their beautiful sounds and Der Waldläufer is an artist that certainly has both.

Higher Education as a Huge Step of Social Transformation

“We don’t need no education,” Pink Floyd sang. Is that true? Not so much any more. It was true in the late 70s when the song came out though.

People were then stuffed with information rather than data. There was no room for students’ thinking in the classroom. The information was delivered in such a way and under such circumstances that it was impossible to think something new of it.

That’s why schooling was loosing its popularity during the last half of the 20th century. Schools were then meant to restrict people’s thinking and set frames on one’s mind. They were meant to, so to say, control the allocation of social statuses. It was the time when social structure and demographics were regulated by schooling. Everyone who went to Harvard or UCLA became a politician, and everyone who went to a state school became a blue-collar worker. Exceptions happened of course, but they were one in a million. After all, someone had to be at the bottom of the social structure. Someone had to go Vietnam and someone had to do the dirty job.

What we have now is a globalized world. Countries are coming together, and the borders are being erased. It is becoming increasingly easier to live in a country of choice. Ethnicities and cultures mix. People from the developing world are fleeing to developed nations just to start everything anew.

The purpose of education is changing as well. What was earlier reserved for working class individuals in now taken by immigrants. There is no need in creating narrow-thinking individuals for low-paying jobs anymore. Schools are no longer meant to keep an individual within a certain social category. Every country is now interested in its citizens being the smartest and the most educated people.

Colleges have become widely-available tools of social mobility. There is no lack of information of how to get into a good school and how to make it to the top. College is how you get where you want to be in the society. It is no longer a place, where social statuses are assigned. It’s the student who chooses which social category they are to acquire after graduation.

These days, schools are also more than just learning institutions. They offer a wide range of activities and personal development opportunities. The purpose of education has changed. People don’t just go to college to get a degree so to get a job. They go there to see the world and to develop themselves. College is now that ultimate transit spot, where a child becomes a man. Now students are supplied with raw information and are supposed to digest it themselves. They create their own thinking algorithms and create their own worldviews. The environment still matters, of course, but to a much lesser extent.

Campuses and colleges are now designed to create individuals, rather than robots. If you look well enough, you’ll notice that every parent worships college education. They know that today, it’s much different from the education they have gone through.

The main advice every parent will tell you is to live on campus. That’s the only way to realize what it’s really like to be a full-time student. And remember: it’s not about the institution, it’s about the person.
